What this team is
Not a contender's roster, not a doormat's — the story is in the details below. The face of it is Terry McLaurin (WR, 88).
Reality check: last year's darlings are 1-4-1, allow 28.7 points a game, and just lost Terry McLaurin for the season to a torn patellar tendon. Daniels' elbow remains the other franchise story. The game sees a contender's supporting cast; reality sees a defense that stops nobody.
Offense
Terry McLaurin (WR, 88) is the headliner. 95 speed — home-run speed that changes how a defense lines up; 93 spectacular catch — the spectacular-catch trait — throws into coverage are not automatically bad ideas. Game-planning against this team starts with him and works backward. The fine print on that number: he tore his patellar tendon in his left knee in the Week 6 game against San Francisco and is out for the season, with surgery ahead.
Jayden Daniels (76) at quarterback is serviceable rather than special; the stars around him are asked to make him right. The line has a star of its own: Laremy Tunsil (LT, 94), the kind of blocker whole run concepts get built behind. Fine print — Jayden Daniels: his 2025 was wrecked by a dislocated elbow, after a knee sprain and a hamstring — and he re-dislocated the same elbow this September before fighting back again. Stefon Diggs: he tore his ACL in October 2024 with Houston, then came back to catch 85 balls and reach a Super Bowl with New England before landing in Washington.
Defense
Daron Payne (DT, 84) sets the terms. 95 strength — immovable when he anchors. He is the problem the other sideline has to solve first.
Special teams
Drew Stevens (74) kicks — 94 leg, 81 accuracy. Tress Way (74) punts — 91 leg, 75 accuracy. The return game has a genuine weapon: Antonio Williams (88 return, 92 speed). As a unit the kicking game rates bottom-three in the league, which turns fourth-and-manageable into fourth-and-pray.
Hidden gems
Offense: Jaylin Lane (WR, 75 OVR) — a 94 speed buried at 75 overall. Speed is the one trait that plays at any overall — it travels to any package, any formation, any Sunday.
Defense: Tyler Owens (SS, 67 OVR). Read the ratings page twice: the overall says 67, the speed says 93. Overall is about the whole job; that speed is about one job, and he can already do that one as well as most starters.
Built from EA's Week 7 roster update: the headliners are each side's highest-rated players, trait callouts are their actual top ratings, and league ranks compare all 32 starting units in the same file. A gem is a non-starter (85 OVR or under) carrying at least one elite trait of 92+.
