What this team is
No side of the ball to hide: this is one of the most complete rosters in the game. The face of it is Fred Warner (MLB, 98).
Offense
Christian McCaffrey (HB, 97) is the headliner. 98 ball carrier vision — sees the cutback a step before it opens; 96 carrying — the ball simply does not come out; 93 broken tackles — runs through arm tackles like they are suggestions. He is the first name in the opponent's meeting room, and the ratings say that is correct. What the 97 overall does not show: 2024 was the lost year — Achilles trouble in both legs, then a PCL injury — and 2025 was the answer: all 17 games and 1,200 rushing yards.
Brock Purdy (92) at quarterback is a strength in his own right — the ball gets where the play says it should. George Kittle (97) would headline most offenses himself — having two of them is how this unit breaks coverage math. The line has a star of its own: Trent Williams (LT, 97), the kind of blocker whole run concepts get built behind. Fine print — Brock Purdy: a turf toe cost him eight games in 2025, and the 49ers' season wobbled every week he was out. George Kittle: he tore his Achilles in the January playoffs and was back by late August — a seven-and-a-half-month return that borders on rude.
Defense
Fred Warner (MLB, 98) sets the terms. 99 play recognition — diagnoses it before the snap has finished; 99 pursuit — runs plays down from behind; 94 tackling — does not miss in the open field. Build a game plan against this defense and his name is where the marker runs out. The asterisk: he fractured and dislocated his ankle last October, his first real absence in 123 games — and has come back playing like the argument never happened.
And he has company at the top: Nick Bosa (93), DeForest Buckner (92) also rate 90+, giving this roster 3 defenders at that level — something only 5 teams in the league can say. The front seven (84.7 average) clearly outclasses the back end (77.6) — the rush has to get home, because the coverage behind it is the exploitable part. Fine print — Nick Bosa: he tore his ACL three weeks into 2025 — the other knee, after 2020 — made it back for Week 1, and has already missed more time since.
Special teams
Eddy Pineiro (77) kicks — 93 leg, 87 accuracy. Corliss Waitman (77) punts — 94 leg, 83 accuracy. The return game has a genuine weapon: Christian McCaffrey (88 return, 90 speed).
Hidden gems
Offense: De'Zhaun Stribling (WR, 76 OVR). Read the ratings page twice: the overall says 76, the speed says 94. Overall is about the whole job; that speed is about one job, and he can already do that one as well as most starters.
Defense: Marques Sigle (SS, 76 OVR) — a 92 speed buried at 76 overall. Speed is the one trait that plays at any overall — it travels to any package, any formation, any Sunday.
Built from EA's Week 7 roster update: the headliners are each side's highest-rated players, trait callouts are their actual top ratings, and league ranks compare all 32 starting units in the same file. A gem is a non-starter (85 OVR or under) carrying at least one elite trait of 92+.
