What this team is
A middle-of-the-league roster with specific, nameable strengths and one problem it cannot hide. The face of it is Derrick Brown (DT, 96), and after him the defense falls off a cliff — the next-best defender is Devin Lloyd (87).
Reality check: the game gives Carolina a middle offense and an 80-rated quarterback. Young entered Week 7 leading the NFL in passing yards per game — then threw for 163 yards, turned it over three times and was benched in a 43-13 loss, with Taylor Moton lost for the season. First place, suddenly fragile.
Offense
Tetairoa McMillan (WR, 87) is the headliner. 95 catching — hands you never worry about; 91 acceleration — zero to full speed in a blink — the first three steps are already gone. Everything this offense does is built to get him the ball in the situations those numbers describe.
Bryce Young (82) at quarterback is serviceable rather than special; the stars around him are asked to make him right.
Defense
Derrick Brown (DT, 96) sets the terms. 98 strength — immovable when he anchors; 96 tackling — does not miss in the open field; 95 block shedding — sheds blocks like they are optional. Offenses spend the week accounting for him, and the rest of this defense eats in the space that creates.
It is a one-man headline, though — the next-best defender is Devin Lloyd (87), and offenses that survive the star find a much more ordinary unit behind him.
Special teams
Ryan Fitzgerald (76) kicks — 94 leg, 86 accuracy. Sam Martin (74) punts — 89 leg, 78 accuracy. Top return man is Xavier Legette (81 return).
Hidden gems
Offense: Chris Brazzell II (WR, 72 OVR) — a 93 speed buried at 72 overall. Speed is the one trait that plays at any overall — it travels to any package, any formation, any Sunday.
Defense: an honest bench. No buried star, no trait that betrays the overall. What you see is what is there.
Built from EA's Week 7 roster update: the headliners are each side's highest-rated players, trait callouts are their actual top ratings, and league ranks compare all 32 starting units in the same file. A gem is a non-starter (85 OVR or under) carrying at least one elite trait of 92+.
