Dagger

Clear-out + dig

An inside receiver clears vertically while an outside receiver breaks on a deep dig behind the vacated linebacker. The vertical route holds the safety; the dig opens underneath him.

When it applies

Against Cover 1 or Tampa 2 with a slow middle linebacker.

+ StrengthsAttacks the hardest spot in Tampa 2 (between MIKE and safety); big chunk play.
− Trade-offsNeeds time for the dig to develop; a fast MIKE with depth closes the window.
